Please keep the following updates on major route closures and disruptions in mind when reserving and preparing for previously-reserved transportation this coming weekend, May 16th-19th.
As previously described, median reconstruction continues both directions on the Gardiner between Ellis Avenue and Dufferin Street as well as between Park Lawn Road and the Humber River. Our drivers and dispatchers report that travel times along the Gardiner into and out of the downtown core were increased by 15-30 minutes this past week due to these lane reductions, sometimes more in peak traffic hours. Please keep these delays when planning and reserving your chauffeured transporation and leave yourself extra time to reach Pearson Airport or other time-sensitive destinations.
An additional maintenance closure is expected on the Gardiner Expressway this Friday, May 16th. In the early morning hours (midnight to 5 am), 2 right lanes of the eastbound Gardiner as well as the right shoulder will be occupied due to installation of sign overlay and to repair temporary pavement markings. This work should be completed in time for the morning rush hour on Friday but may affect early-morning departures that day.
Several lanes closures are also expected on Lake Shore Boulevard. Some are related to the continuing Gardiner maintenance work: 2 eastbound lanes between Jarvis Street and Don Roadway and the westbound left lane from Lower Jarvis Street to Yonge Street will be occupied during the weekday repair hours of 9:30 am and 3:30 pm, while the eastbound centre and right lanes between Lower Sherbourne Street Parliament Street will be occupied from 11:30 pm to 6:30 am on weeknights. There will also be an overnight closure of the Lake Shore’s eastbound and westbound left turn lanes from midnight tonight (Thursday, May 15th) until 4 am tomorrow (Friday, May 16th) for loop repairs. Finally, the westbound left lane of Lake Shore Boulevard at Parkside Drive will be occupied from Thursday, May 15th until at least Tuesday, May 27th between the hours of 7 am and 2:30 pm on weekdays for replacement of high voltage power cables by Hydro One
