Global Alliance Worldwide Chauffeured Services operates in the Greater Toronto Area of Southern Ontario, Canada. Today’s destination is west down the QEW from Toronto: the city of Burlington.

Located along the north shore of Lake Ontario roughly equidistant between Toronto and Hamilton, Burlington is a city of 175,000 residents. Settled as an English farming community in the 19th Century, Burlington incorporated as a town in 1915 and as a city in 1974 as the population topped 100,000. Burlington has a notably high population growth rate, especially since the year 2000. It is also consistently rated highly in terms of quality of life, recently being ranked the second best city in which to live in all of Canada.

Burlington has a strong diversified economy, with automotive and manufacturing sectors being especially vibrant although hardly dominant. The city’s proximity to the larger markets of Toronto and Hamilton offers many retail and employment opportunities for its residents.

There is much to keep those residents in Burlington year-round, however. The city’s attractions include the Art Gallery of Burlington, Ontario’s Royal Botanical Gardens, and Spencer Smith Park, with the Brant Street Pier extending into Lake Ontario. The Niagara Escarpment in the north of the city features many fine hiking trails, including a portion of the Bruce Trail. Burlington is also home to popular annual festivals such as Ribfest (touted as Canada’s largest) and the Sound of Music Festival.
