Explaining Trip Occasions: Point-to-Point Transfers

Upon reserving chauffeured limousine services with Global Alliance and receiving an email with confirmation of the booking attached, you may notice a field in the Pick Up & Drop Off Information section of the confirmation that is labelled Occasion. Though this may seem to be a minor detail to the client’s eye, the Occasion for each booking is a vital piece of information for reservations specialist to select correctly and to help dispatchers streamline the assignment of chauffeur to specific services.

Clients booking services online on our website are also prompted to enter an Occasion, so some knowledge of the different types of services indicated under Occasion is also important for them to be aware of. This one detail indicates succinctly and precisely the type of service ordered. Previous posts detailed occasions related to airport service as well as hourly service and roadshows. Today’s post will cover point-to-point transfers, with a later post to deal with special occasions.

PU/DO Local – Any direct point-to-point pickup (PU) and drop off (DO) in which both locations are inside the City of Toronto. No additional stops are made, and no airport locations are involved. Rates vary based on vehicle type and locations, but sedans and SUVs in particular may be billed based on either hourly minimums or pre-set flat or “zoned” rates. Larger vehicle types will be billed on the basis of an hourly minimum. This occasion may also apply to the return leg of a Transfer Local w/ Return.

Transfer Local w/ Return – Any direct point-to-point pickup (PU) and drop off (DO) in which both locations are inside the City of Toronto that has a separate pre-arranged return leg. The return leg will pick up from the drop off location and customarily drops off at the original pick up location, though it may drop at a different location instead.
