On top of continuing maintenance work on the Gardiner Expressway previously described, several maintenance and construction closures will be affecting Lake Shore Boulevard beginning this week.
Previously described Lake Shore closures related to the larger Gardiner projects continue: Two eastbound lanes between Jarvis Street and Don Roadway are occupied between the hours of 9:30 am and 3:30 pm on weekdays and the eastbound centre and right lanes between Lower Sherbourne Street and Parliament Street are likewise occupied between the overnight hours of 11:30 pm and 6:30 am.
In addition to these lane reductions, several other projects are leading to rolling closures along the Lake Shore. At Parkside Drive, the westbound left lane will be closed for replacement of high voltage power cables between the hours of 7 am and 2:30 pm every weekday. Similar cable replacements will occur from 7 am to 2:30 pm this coming Saturday and Sunday (May 24th and 25th) between British Columbia Drive and Windermere Avenue in both eastbound and westbound lanes.
New natural gas regulation stations are also being installed in several places along Lake Shore Boulevard and this will also lead to lane closures. Some of this work began this past Tuesday (May 20th), closing the westbound curb lane at Park Lawn Road daily from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm until at least mid-June.
Finally, major road resurfacing work commenced yesterday (Wednesday, May 21st) in both directions between Windermere Avenue and Yonge Street. This work will be rotating to minimize inconvenience, as westbound lanes will be closed from 6 am to 2:30 pm and eastbound closed between 10 am and 8 pm. The resurfacing will proceed one lane at a time, with two lanes being closed between the hours of 10 and 2:30 as needed.
Please also note a minor Gardiner lane reduction this weekend: the northbound curb lane at York Street will be shut down from 10:30 am to 12 noon on Sunday, May 25th for the World Partnership Walk and United Jewish Appeal Walk. Expect Yonge and Bay to remain accessible during this short closure.
